Old Kid

Yesterday, I received the simplest and best advice while having breakfast with my dear Emma.

Emma: “You know, you can still have fun even if you are an old kid.”

Me: “Am I an old kid?”

Emma: “You’re a grown up who was a kid that grew older. Yah, you’re an old kid mommy.” (giggles)

Me: “Are you an old kid?

Emma: “When I turn four, I’ll be an old kid too.”

Me: “Oh yeah. What can we do for fun then?”

Emma: “You can jump, skip, run and play. Do whatever makes you happy mommy.”

Me: “Thanks baby.”

Emma: “Mommy, can you play dolls with me?”

To my funny, loving, free spirited, beautiful four year old, Emma, Happy Happy 4th Birthday to you!!! Thank you for lending me your refreshing perspective on life. Life is simple, life is beautiful. Love you so much!!!

Here are my favorite top four lines from Emma:

1. “You know, you can still have fun even if you are an old kid.”

2. After letting some gas out, “Excuse me I farted. See mommy I’m practicing good manners.”

3. When asked if she would like dessert/something to eat/ play: “Of course.”

4.When receiving gifts big or small, “Thank you so much, I love it!”
